Local governments have a legislative responsibility to lead recovery following an emergency event or disaster. To guide this, and as a requirement under the Emergency Management Act 2005, the City maintains a suite of documents known as Local Emergency Management Arrangements (LEMA), which outline how we prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies.

As part of this, we have developed a draft Communications Plan focused on the recovery phase after an emergency event or disaster. Recovery communication is different from emergency response because it is about helping the community adapt after the immediate danger has passed.

The draft plan explains how the City will communicate during recovery, what information will be shared, how it will be delivered, and how we will engage with you.

We invite you to provide feedback on this draft plan to help ensure it meets community needs and supports effective communication. Use the form below to share your thoughts by 26 January 2026.
